The first phase of environmental contingency for ozone continues in the Mexico City Metropolitan Area. Driving restrictions are in place, and health recommendations are given to the population.

Phase I Environmental Contingency Declared in Mexico City

The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CAMe) reported that this Saturday, February 14, Phase I of the atmospheric environmental contingency for ozone continues in the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico (ZMVM), so the restrictions of the 'Double Hoy No Circula' (Driving Ban) remain in effect. According to the agency, the measure is maintained based on the Programs to Prevent and Respond to Atmospheric Environmental Contingencies in effect in Mexico City and the State of Mexico, with the aim of reducing the population's exposure to polluted air and reducing pollutant emissions. The Atmospheric Monitoring System of Mexico City indicated that the high-pressure system will continue to influence the center of the country, which will cause moderate to strong atmospheric stability, clear skies, low humidity, and weak winds. Additionally, maximum temperatures close to 28 degrees Celsius are estimated, conditions that will favor the formation and accumulation of ozone, so air quality is expected to be from 'Bad' to 'Very Bad' during the day. Recommendations during the environmental contingency CAMe reminded the population to stay informed about air quality and follow health recommendations, especially between 13:00 and 19:00 hours, when pollution peaks are recorded. It is recommended to: avoid civic, cultural, and recreational activities outdoors between 13:00 and 19:00; suspend events organized by public or private institutions during this time; postpone mass events and outdoor sports activities; not smoke, especially in enclosed spaces. It is also recommended to stay informed through the 'Aire' app, the website www.aire.cdmx.gob.mx, or the @Aire_CDMX account on X. 'Double Hoy No Circula' this February 14 As part of Phase I of the environmental contingency, circulation must be suspended from 5:00 to 22:00 hours for: Private vehicles with hologram 2. Vehicles with hologram 1 whose last digit is 2, 4, 6, 8, or 0. Vehicles with holograms 0 and 00, blue sticker, plate ending in 9 or 0. It is also recommended to facilitate remote work, shop online, and avoid using products with solvents to contribute to the reduction of emissions.
